uh oh...

things have just gone wrong for me in this project...not cool.

so ive fully set up my track points. then i went to 'solve' the project, followed the tutorial and this has happened!

Photobucket

its a mess, i dont understand how 40 odd green tracking points on the graph has lead it to this

Photobucket

it was totally unusable.
so i asked around for help including my tutor and the only answer i was given was 'use less tracking points'

so i did it again with less tracking points each with pretty much full green bars and i got the same problem when it came to solving it.
im really not sure what to do with myself let alone this project!
i think im going to have to rethink my plans

maybe even think about using a different program. ive used adobe after effects to track before and i think it might be worth trying out on there.

finished modeling

so due to the uncomplicated level of modeling it takes to make a wooden IKEA, i have finished my model.

here are some screenshots of what i have achieved.

i even included a little air vent with metal texture and everything!

i think i have completed this parted to a decent level, i think if the model was going to be up close and personal then i would have spent a little more time on it and added a few more details into the architecture but because its going to be set quite far back in my scene this model should do the job.

this is quite a big post today because i am pleased to announce that i have also started tracking my scene using MayaLive.

so far so good still just picking the tracking points though so probably still a lot to go wrong...long road ahead of me

im finding it quite hard to juggle my time between projects at the moment, hopefully will find a good routine to get both done steadily.

ahh man i love ikea!

so ive deliberated between myself and ive decided to do an old version of a new building and i have chosen to do a wooden IKEA.
so over the next week i will be modeling this building. i want to keep it quite simple, i looked at a couple of IKEA buildings and they are usually big square structures.

i started the modeling today and heres a quick screen grab of part of it so far.

Photobucket

i have also found a good wood texture from cgtextures.com

so what next you ask....well i need to carry on modeling this IKEA building then texture it, and match up the lighting with my chosen clip.
plus i will need to start tracking quite soon...probably this week.

2nd post

so here is a still from the scene i have chosen.

Photobucket

im not entirely sure what building i will be adding but i think the easiest/most effective place to place it would be to the left of the first white building with the horses outside.
i will be purposely matching the textures of my building to the ones of the scene and the time period.
so quite, standard shaped buildings made from mostly wood.

a couple of ideas i had been throwing about were to either do a traditional 'wild west' building or do an old take on a newer building such as a department store on something, maybe an IKEA?....

ok

been concentrating quite alot on my other unit unfortunately but here is what i have done so far for this unit.

Brief:
alot like the post production unit last term, but this time instead of filming our own footage we have to take a ready made piece of film e.g. a feature film. once we have chosen the scene i then have to draw out a storyboard showing what we aim to achieve.
next is to track the scene well enough to then put something into the scene and make it look like it belongs there.

i chose my clip quite quickly, a scene from the film 'There will be Blodd' with daniel day lewis. the scene is made up of quite a long camera track of a car driving through a small run down town.
my intent is to model and add to the buildings with a building of my own and maybe a couple of little extras.
